They wrote the Constitution in general terms so thoughtful men might find argument with what it meant. The Founding Fathers pulled a fast one though. It is administered by the government, the people we elect by vote to use it, and it dictates how the country should be run. Constitutional Principlesīasically the Constitution is called a “living and breathing” document because it changes in interpretation as the times change. It’s an important document-written by James Madison-that grants us power and protection, more than what’s given in the Constitution, another important document that says we, the people, have a democratic system of governing our country.
